There’s a suicide epidemic in Australia.

It is the leading cause of death for Australians aged 15–44.

75% of them are men.

Men and particularly young men are lost.

There are a lack of good role models and too many bad ones. There’s also an endemic fear when speaking up for men, that those who do will be singled out as misogynist. So this short poem by Matthew McConaughey celebrating Good Men spoke to my heart and I hope it touches you too.

If you are wondering why I as a marketer would share this, I have always been involved in personal development. I was a social worker and therapist, back in the UK. On arrival in Australia my qualifications, experience and Masters degree were not recognised so I turned my attention to building a business and being a coach.

Away from business I continued to work in personal development. I co-founded an organisation in 1998 that ran for over 20 years assisting thousands of people to challenge themselves and to change and grow. Through the covid years I ran several personal development programs from my home via Zoom.
